It Is Your Life
"For it is not a vain thing for you; because it is your life: and through this thing ye shall prolong your days in the land, whither ye go over Jordan to possess it." - Deuteronomy 32:47
The Children of Israel have come to the end of their wandering in the wilderness, and on the cusp of entering into the promised land, Moses begins to give his final words of advice to the people. God gave Moses a song to the people about their obedience bringing a response of blessing and their disobedience bringing a response of cursing. Moses finishes this song with the verse that we find above.
While we are not in promise of any sort of physical land for God, we find that we can apply these principles to our life spiritually. Are we being obedient to what God has called us to do? Are we working to carry out the cause of Christ and the Gospel? If not, we shouldn't be expected to see results. As Moses put it, the God that we serve, the ways that we participate in are not just for vanity, it is our life! So, what will you do with your life? It has been put before, what we do for us shall pass, but what we do for God shall last. Will your works last?
