Some Things Are Worth Fighting For

"Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses." 1 Timothy 6:12

On this day in 1775 at approximately 5:30 AM, the first shots of the American Revolution were fired sparking our nation's war of independence from Great Britain. Within the first few minutes of fighting, our country lost several soldiers which would only be the start to the suffering that would occur to bring us our independence. At any point, our leaders could have decided that enough was enough and they could have stopped the war and put us on the track to remaining an British colony, but look how our lives would have been different! To say the least, I'm glad they were willing to stand because our nation was something that is worth fighting for!

On the spiritual side of this, the Apostle Paul is encouraging Timothy to fight the good fight of faith in the things of God. Instead of seeing ourselves as tourists on a ship, we should see ourselves as sailors working in the army of an Almighty God! We should be doing everything thing we can to fight evil on a daily basis. So, what have you done for God today? Our independence wasn't won in one large battle, but it was an intentional choice to get up and fight every day. Will you fight for God today?
